Everything you want to know about tracking Indian food, smart meal plans, family plans, and billing — answered plainly.

About Nutri Macro

What is Nutri Macro India?

Nutri Macro India is a smart calorie and macro nutrition tracker built specifically for Indian food. It recognises dal, biryani, idli, sabzi, paratha, and hundreds of other Indian dishes. The app includes photo calorie scanning, fridge scan, receipt scan, smart meal plans with regional cuisine support (South Indian, Punjabi, Bengali, Gujarati), and a family plan for up to 4 members.

How is Nutri Macro different from HealthifyMe?

Nutri Macro includes features HealthifyMe does not: fridge scan (the app identifies your sabzis and dals), receipt scan (auto-adds groceries to your pantry), leftover recipe finder, smart recipe remix, a self-serve smart meal planner (no coach required), and a family plan covering 4 members at ₹599/month. Nutri Macro also starts at ₹199/month versus HealthifyMe's ₹208/month. HealthifyMe has a larger food database; Nutri Macro's focus is on smart kitchen management tools built around the way Indian families actually cook and eat.

How is Nutri Macro different from MyFitnessPal?

MyFitnessPal has a large global food database but very limited Indian food entries, no photo scan, no fridge scan, no receipt scan, and no smart meal plan. It is not designed for Indian kitchens. Nutri Macro is built specifically for Indian food habits, regional cuisines, and the realities of home-cooked Indian meals — where the same "dal" can mean very different nutritional profiles depending on preparation.

Is the app available in Hindi, Tamil, or other regional languages?

The app currently runs in English. Regional language support for Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu is planned for a future update. Food search already supports transliterations — searching "poha", "aval", or "atukulu" will all find the same dish. Recipe names are shown in their regional spellings alongside English.

Indian Food Database

Does it track biryani, dal, idli, roti, and other Indian foods accurately?

Yes. The database includes 100+ common Indian foods with verified macros — dal tadka, toor dal, chana masala, rajma, Hyderabadi biryani, jeera rice, roti, phulka, paratha, aloo paratha, idli, dosa, masala dosa, upma, poha, sabzi dishes, paneer preparations, and more. You can search by name and log by serving size (number of rotis, cups of rice, bowls of dal). The database is growing regularly.

Can I get a vegetarian or Jain meal plan?

Yes. The smart meal planner supports vegetarian, vegan, and omnivore preferences. You can also note Jain dietary restrictions (avoiding root vegetables) in your profile preferences — the planner will respect these when generating all meal suggestions. Halal preference is also supported for non-vegetarian meal plans.

How do I log a home-cooked meal with multiple ingredients?

You have two options: (1) Use Photo Scan — take a photo of your plated meal and let the app estimate each item separately. (2) Use the Manual Log — search for each dish name and log by portion (e.g., "Dal Tadka, 1 cup" + "Roti, 2 pieces"). You can also save frequently eaten combinations as a "meal" for quick re-logging.

Smart Features

How accurate is the photo scan for Indian food?

Photo scan uses smart recognition to identify individual items on your plate — dal, rice, sabzi, and raita are identified separately and estimated individually. Accuracy is highest for standard thali arrangements and single-item dishes with clear visual separation. Complex mixed dishes like biryanis may have an estimation range of ±10–15%. For best accuracy: use natural or bright flat lighting, photograph the full plate directly from above, and avoid shadow over any part of the food.

What is Fridge Scan and how does it work for Indian kitchens?

Open your fridge, take a photo, and the app identifies your vegetables (karela, lauki, methi, palak, tomatoes, capsicum), dals (toor, moong, chana stored in containers), and ingredients like paneer, curd, and eggs. It then suggests recipes you can make right now with what's available — reducing food waste and saving you from the "what do I cook?" dilemma. Fridge scan is included on all paid plans.

Can the smart meal plan generate regional Indian plans — South Indian, Punjabi, Bengali, Gujarati?

Yes. You choose your regional cuisine preference before generating your plan — South Indian, Punjabi, Bengali, Gujarati, Maharashtra, Hyderabadi, and more. The app generates a full 7-day plan with breakfast, lunch, and dinner matched to your calorie and macro targets, using authentic dishes from that cuisine. You can regenerate your plan up to 4 times per week (Coach Solo and Coach Family only).

What is Recipe Remix?

Recipe Remix creates a new variation of a recipe using ingredients already in your pantry. If you're tired of the same paneer butter masala, tap Remix and the app suggests a creative macro-matched variation — like a lighter paneer tikka masala or a paneer palak — without needing extra shopping. Available on Coach Solo and Coach Family plans (50 remixes per month).

Does Receipt Scan work for kirana shops, D-Mart, and BigBasket?

Yes. Snap a photo of your printed receipt from a local kirana, D-Mart, Reliance Fresh, BigBasket, or any Indian grocery store. The app reads the line items, identifies produce and pantry ingredients, and adds them to your pantry with smart expiry estimates. Receipt scan has its own separate 50-per-month pool on all plans (it doesn't use your smart scan allowance) — including the Free plan.

Family Plan

How does the Family Plan work?

The Family plan covers up to 4 members under one subscription. Each member has their own account, private food log, individual calorie and macro goals, dietary preferences, and allergy settings. The family shares one pantry and one subscription smart-feature quota. Members can be in different cities — each just needs their own login. The plan owner manages the subscription from their App Store or Play Store account.

How do I add family members?

Open the app, go to Settings → Family Plan → Invite Member. Enter the family member's email address. They receive an invitation link and create their own Nutri Macro account linked to your family subscription. Each member sets their own profile, goals, height, weight, and dietary preferences independently.

What if my family members don't all live in the same city?

The Family plan works across cities and devices. Each member logs in with their own email. Food logs and nutritional goals are private per member — you share only the subscription quota. The shared pantry reflects what one designated "home kitchen" contains, which each member can view and reference for recipe suggestions.

What happens to my data if I cancel?

Your food logs, nutrition history, and settings remain in the app after cancellation. You retain read access to all your data. Smart features (photo scan, meal plan, fridge scan) become unavailable until you resubscribe. Your data is never deleted due to cancellation — only when you explicitly request account deletion through Settings → Account → Delete Account.

Privacy & Data

Is my health data private and secure?

Yes. All health and food data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. We comply with the EU GDPR and India's Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act 2023. We never sell your personal data to any third party. Smart features for meal plans and photo scans process your food photos in real-time — they are not stored or used for training by our processing provider. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.

Does the app sync with Apple Health or Google Health Connect?

Yes. On iOS, Nutri Macro can sync calorie intake and nutrition data with Apple Health. On Android, it syncs with Google Health Connect, which is compatible with Fitbit, Garmin, and other wearables that write to Health Connect. You can also have the app read steps and sleep data from your connected device to inform your calorie targets.

Can I export or delete my data?

Yes. Under Settings → Account → Privacy, you can: (1) request a full data export in JSON format, delivered to your email within 7 days; (2) submit an account deletion request, which removes all personal data within 30 days per GDPR and DPDP requirements. You can also email support@nutrimacro.in with a subject of "Data Export Request" or "Account Deletion Request" and we will process it within the required timeframe.
