  1. Heat ghee (1 min, high): Ghee shimmering.
  2. Temper spices (1 min, high): Add cumin seeds, bay leaf, cinnamon, cloves, cardamom.
  3. Add rice and dal (1 min, medium): Add rinsed rice and dal, stir to coat with ghee.
  4. Add turmeric and water (2 mins, high): Dust turmeric, pour water, bring to boil.
  5. Add salt (1 min, high): Add salt, return to boil.
  6. Simmer (20 mins, low): Cover tightly, simmer over lowest heat 18-20 mins until creamy. Rice and dal should break down, absorb water.
