- Mix rice flour + coconut + crushed jaggery + cardamom + salt
- Add water gradually, knead to dough consistency
- Oil puttu cylindrical mold completely
- Pack dough firmly into mold
- Boil water in deep pot (1 cup)
- Lower mold into boiling water vertically
- Water should surround mold, not submerge
- Cover pot, steam 15 mins
- Remove mold from water, cool 3 mins
- Unmold onto cutting board, slice warm
