  1. Mix rice flour + coconut + crushed jaggery + cardamom + salt
  2. Add water gradually, knead to dough consistency
  3. Oil puttu cylindrical mold completely
  4. Pack dough firmly into mold
  5. Boil water in deep pot (1 cup)
  6. Lower mold into boiling water vertically
  7. Water should surround mold, not submerge
  8. Cover pot, steam 15 mins
  9. Remove mold from water, cool 3 mins
  10. Unmold onto cutting board, slice warm
  11. Slices hold shape, golden color
