- Roast rice + moong dal separately (5 mins each) until nutty aroma
- Crush black pepper + cumin coarsely
- Heat oil, fry cashews golden (2 mins), add ginger slices
- Add curry leaves, fry 30 seconds
- Add roasted rice + dal, stir 2 mins
- Pour water + salt, bring to boil
- Reduce heat to low, cover, cook 15 mins until grains separate
- Fold in pepper-cumin mixture, serve with ghee
