👩‍🍳 How to make Mung Dal Thongba

  1. Rinse mung dal (1 min)
  2. Heat oil in pot over medium (1 min)
  3. Add cumin, crackle 30 seconds
  4. Add asafoetida, swirl (10 seconds)
  5. Add sliced ginger, cook 1 minute
  6. Add coarsely chopped onion, cook 2 minutes
  7. Add sliced green chilli
  8. Add rinsed dal, stir 1 minute
  9. Add turmeric, stir (30 seconds)
  10. Pour water, add salt
  11. Bring to boil (5 min)
  12. Reduce heat to medium-low
  13. Simmer 15-18 minutes until dal breaks down completely
  14. Stir occasionally
  15. When dal is mushy and broth is thick, add coriander
  16. Serve hot
