👩🍳 How to make Mung Dal Thongba
- Rinse mung dal (1 min)
- Heat oil in pot over medium (1 min)
- Add cumin, crackle 30 seconds
- Add asafoetida, swirl (10 seconds)
- Add sliced ginger, cook 1 minute
- Add coarsely chopped onion, cook 2 minutes
- Add sliced green chilli
- Add rinsed dal, stir 1 minute
- Add turmeric, stir (30 seconds)
- Pour water, add salt
- Bring to boil (5 min)
- Reduce heat to medium-low
- Simmer 15-18 minutes until dal breaks down completely
- Stir occasionally
- When dal is mushy and broth is thick, add coriander
- Serve hot
