👩‍🍳 How to make Mixed Vegetable Porridge

  1. Rinse rice (1 min)
  2. Heat oil in pot (1 min)
  3. Add cumin seeds, crackle 30 seconds
  4. Add asafoetida, swirl (10 seconds)
  5. Add ginger, cook 1 minute
  6. Add diced onion, cook 2 minutes
  7. Add rinsed rice, stir 1 minute
  8. Add water, salt, bring to boil (5 min)
  9. Add diced vegetables (carrot, beans first as they take longer)
  10. Reduce heat to low, cover
  11. Simmer 15 minutes, stirring occasionally
  12. Add peas (which cook quickly) 5 minutes before rice finishes
  13. Add minced green chilli
  14. When rice breaks down and vegetables are very soft, mixture is done
  15. Serve hot
