👩‍🍳 How to make Khichdi Chakra

  1. Rinse rice and moong dal together (1 min)
  2. Heat oil in heavy-bottomed pot over medium heat (1 min)
  3. Add cumin seeds, let crackle 30 seconds
  4. Add asafoetida, swirl (10 seconds)
  5. Add grated ginger, minced chilli, sauté 1 minute
  6. Pour in rinsed rice and dal, stir for 2 minutes
  7. Add water and salt
  8. Bring to boil (5 minutes)
  9. Reduce heat to low, cover with lid
  10. Simmer for 15-18 minutes until rice breaks down and khichdi becomes creamy
  11. Stir occasionally (every 3 minutes) to prevent sticking
  12. When grains are fully soft and mixture is porridge-like, add coriander
  13. Serve hot
