  1. Heat oil in pot over medium (1 min)
  2. Add cumin seeds, let crackle 30 seconds
  3. Add asafoetida, swirl (10 seconds)
  4. Add grated ginger, cook 1 minute
  5. Add minced onion, cook 2 minutes
  6. Add minced green chilli, cook 30 seconds
  7. Gradually sprinkle besan while stirring constantly to avoid lumps (2 min)
  8. Pour water slowly while stirring continuously (3 min)
  9. Add salt, stir well
  10. Bring to boil (4 min)
  11. Reduce heat to low, simmer 5-7 minutes
  12. Stir frequently to prevent sticking
  13. When porridge reaches creamy consistency, add coriander
  14. Serve hot
