👩‍🍳 How to make Smoked Fish Paste

  1. Soak smoked fish in warm water (60°C) for 2 min, drain.
  2. Heat oil (150°C), add onion for 30 sec.
  3. Add ginger and green chili, cook 20 sec.
  4. Add soaked fish, break into pieces, cook 1 min stirring (should soften slightly).
  5. Add grated coconut, remove from heat.
  6. Cool slightly, mash with fork or small mortar until paste forms (chunky ok).
  7. Add lemon juice and salt, mix well. Visual cue: Coarse paste, moist from oil, strong fish aroma.
  8. Serve as spread on farata or with rice.
