- Rinse rice and lentil together.
- Add to pot with water, turmeric, and pumpkin (medium heat, 180°C).
- Bring to boil, reduce to low (150°C), simmer 12 min until rice, lentil, and pumpkin all soft.
- Heat oil separately (160°C), fry curry leaves (15 sec).
- Add curry leaf oil to porridge, stir gently.
- Add chili powder and salt. Visual cue: Creamy porridge, pumpkin pieces soft, orange-yellow color.
- Serve warm in bowl.
