- Heat oil (160°C), add cumin, peppercorn, coriander, crackle 20 sec.
- Add curry leaves, fry 15 sec.
- Add tomato, cook 1 min.
- Add asafoetida, stir 10 sec.
- Add water, bring to boil (180°C).
- Add tuna pieces, cook 5 min (fish should turn opaque and tender).
- Add tamarind juice, simmer 3 min on low heat (150°C). Visual cue: Thin soup, fragrant and tangy, fish pieces soft.
- Add salt.
- Serve hot in bowl with rice on the side.
