👩🍳 How to make Split Pea and Yak Meat Dhal
- Rinse split peas; drain
- Heat oil in large pot to 70°C
- Add cumin seeds; sizzle 30 seconds
- Add onion; fry 3-4 mins until golden
- Add ginger, garlic; cook 1-2 mins
- Add diced meat; cook 5-7 mins until browned
- Add split peas; stir 1-2 mins
- Pour water; add turmeric; bring to boil (100°C, 5 mins)
- Reduce heat to medium; cover partially
- Simmer 40-45 mins, stirring occasionally
- Peas should break down, creating creamy dhal
- Meat should be very tender and mostly integrated
- Add garam masala; cook another 2-3 mins
- Season with salt
- Garnish with cilantro
- Serve hot (above 70°C)
