👩‍🍳 How to make Split Pea and Yak Meat Dhal

  1. Rinse split peas; drain
  2. Heat oil in large pot to 70°C
  3. Add cumin seeds; sizzle 30 seconds
  4. Add onion; fry 3-4 mins until golden
  5. Add ginger, garlic; cook 1-2 mins
  6. Add diced meat; cook 5-7 mins until browned
  7. Add split peas; stir 1-2 mins
  8. Pour water; add turmeric; bring to boil (100°C, 5 mins)
  9. Reduce heat to medium; cover partially
  10. Simmer 40-45 mins, stirring occasionally
  11. Peas should break down, creating creamy dhal
  12. Meat should be very tender and mostly integrated
  13. Add garam masala; cook another 2-3 mins
  14. Season with salt
  15. Garnish with cilantro
  16. Serve hot (above 70°C)
