  1. Heat oil and butter in a large pot to 70°C
  2. Add onion, ginger; sauté 2-3 mins until golden (80°C)
  3. Add root vegetables; cook 3-4 mins (75°C)
  4. Pour in broth; bring to rolling boil (100°C, 3 mins)
  5. Slowly sprinkle barley flour while stirring constantly to avoid lumps
  6. Add turmeric; simmer on medium heat for 20-25 mins
  7. Stir frequently; mixture should thicken into porridge-like consistency
  8. Season with salt and pepper
  9. Cook until vegetables are soft and flour is fully cooked (test: no grainy texture)
  10. Serve hot (above 60°C)
