👩‍🍳 How to make Mung Bean and Barley Porridge

  1. Rinse mung dal and barley separately; drain
  2. Heat butter in pot to 65°C
  3. Add cumin seeds; sizzle 30 seconds
  4. Add onion, ginger; fry 2 mins
  5. Add mung dal, barley; stir 1-2 mins
  6. Add turmeric
  7. Pour water; bring to boil (100°C, 3 mins)
  8. Reduce heat; cover
  9. Simmer 22-25 mins
  10. Dal should be very soft, barley tender
  11. Stir occasionally; mixture becomes thick and creamy
  12. Season with salt
  13. Serve warm (above 55°C), garnished with cilantro
