👩🍳 How to make Carrot and Lentil Khichdi
- Rinse lentils and barley separately under running water; drain
- Heat butter in pot to 65°C
- Add cumin seeds; let them sizzle for 30 seconds
- Add lentils and barley; stir for 1-2 mins
- Add carrots; cook 1 min
- Pour water; bring to boil (100°C, 3 mins)
- Add turmeric; reduce heat to low-medium
- Cover partially; cook for 20-25 mins
- Stir occasionally to prevent sticking
- When lentils and barley are soft and mixture is thick, add salt
- Cook another 2 mins; serve hot (above 60°C)
