👩‍🍳 How to make Carrot and Lentil Khichdi

  1. Rinse lentils and barley separately under running water; drain
  2. Heat butter in pot to 65°C
  3. Add cumin seeds; let them sizzle for 30 seconds
  4. Add lentils and barley; stir for 1-2 mins
  5. Add carrots; cook 1 min
  6. Pour water; bring to boil (100°C, 3 mins)
  7. Add turmeric; reduce heat to low-medium
  8. Cover partially; cook for 20-25 mins
  9. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking
  10. When lentils and barley are soft and mixture is thick, add salt
  11. Cook another 2 mins; serve hot (above 60°C)
