  1. Soak rice (30 mins, no heat): Wash and soak rice.
  2. Temper (2 mins, high heat): Heat oil, add cumin, cloves, cinnamon, bay leaves, onion slices. Fry until onion turns golden. Visual: onion translucent then brown.
  3. Add rice (2 mins, medium-high heat): Add soaked rice, fry 1 minute. Visual: grains coated with oil.
