  1. Soak rice (30 mins, no heat): Soak rice in water. Boil mixed vegetables, drain. Visual: vegetables cooked but firm.
  2. Temper (2 mins, high heat): Heat coconut oil, add cloves, cinnamon, bay leaves, fry 30 seconds. Add onion, fry until golden. Add garlic, fry 30 seconds. Visual: onion brown, garlic golden.
  3. Add rice (2 mins, medium-high heat): Add soaked rice, fry in spices 1-2 minutes. Visual: rice grains coated, glossy.
  4. Add water (1 min, high heat): Add 4 cups water, salt, black pepper. Bring to boil. Visual: rolling boil.
  5. Add vegetables (2 mins, low heat): Gently fold in cooked vegetables.
  6. Rest (3 mins, no heat): Let rest covered 3 minutes.
