  1. Add potatoes (10 mins, medium heat 160°C): Add small potato cubes to dal, continue cooking until both are fully tender. Visual: potatoes should be easily pierced, dal completely soft.

  4. Add tempering (1 min, high heat 180°C): Add green chilies, curry leaves to tempering oil, fry 15 seconds. Visual: curry leaves crinkle slightly.
  5. Combine (4 mins, medium heat 160°C): Pour tempering into dal and potato mixture, add thin coconut milk, salt, stir well. Simmer gently. Visual: creamy golden sauce, oil glistens on surface.
