  1. Cut bread slices diagonally into triangles (creates 8 triangles from 4 slices)
  2. Mix gram flour, rice flour, red chilli, turmeric, salt, asafoetida, cumin seeds
  3. Add water gradually to form thick batter (consistency: coats spoon, not runny)
  4. Heat oil to 350°F (175°C, test with thermometer)
  5. Dip bread triangle in batter, coat both sides thoroughly
  6. Carefully slide into hot oil
  7. Fry 2-3 min per side until golden-brown and crispy
  8. Remove with slotted spoon, drain on paper towel
  9. Serve hot with mint chutney or tamarind chutney
