👩‍🍳 How to make Khatkhate

  1. Grind masala (5 mins, no heat): Blend grated coconut, Kashmiri chillies, coriander, cumin, and turmeric with a little water to a smooth, vibrant red paste.
  2. Add dal and masala (10 mins, medium heat): Add cooked toor dal and ground coconut masala. Stir well. Bring to gentle boil.
  3. Season (5 mins, low heat): Add tamarind pulp, salt. Simmer gently — gravy should be thick and coat the vegetables. Finish with drizzle of coconut oil.
