  1. Heat oil, add cumin seeds, asafoetida, ginger, chilies (45 secs).
  2. Add dal, turmeric, salt, water.
  3. Bring to boil (100°C), reduce to low (65°C), add greens, cover, cook 20-25 mins until dal soft and greens cooked.
  4. Visual cue: dal mushy, greens soft, deep green color.
  5. Serve with rice.
