- Rinse rice and dal.
- Heat ghee, add cumin seeds (30 secs).
- Add rice, dal, vegetables, turmeric, salt, water.
- Bring to boil (100°C), reduce to low (65°C), cover, cook 20-25 mins.
- Stir occasionally.
- Visual cue: all grains tender, vegetables soft.
- Serve hot.
