  1. Rinse rice and dal.
  2. Heat ghee, add cumin seeds (30 secs).
  3. Add rice, dal, vegetables, turmeric, salt, water.
  4. Bring to boil (100°C), reduce to low (65°C), cover, cook 20-25 mins.
  5. Stir occasionally.
  6. Visual cue: all grains tender, vegetables soft.
  7. Serve hot.
