  1. Pumpkin: heat oil, add cumin seeds (30 secs).
  2. Add pumpkin, turmeric, salt, water.
  3. Bring to boil (100°C), reduce to low (70°C), cover, cook 18-20 mins until pumpkin very soft, almost mushy.
  4. Dal: cook toor dal separately with water, salt (25 mins).
  5. Finish with ghee.
  6. Arrange rice, pumpkin curry, dal, and fried onions on plate as thali.
  7. Visual cue: pumpkin soft, dal creamy, elements separate.
