  1. Rinse barley and dal.
  2. Heat ghee, add cumin seeds, ginger (30 secs).
  3. Add barley, dal, turmeric, salt, water.
  4. Bring to boil (100°C), reduce to low (65°C), cover, cook 30-35 mins.
  5. Visual cue: barley tender, dal mushy.
  6. Serve hot with ghee.
