  1. Rinse bajra and dal.
  2. Heat ghee, add cumin seeds, asafoetida (30 secs).
  3. Add bajra and dal, toast 2 mins (medium heat).
  4. Add water, turmeric, salt.
  5. Bring to boil (100°C), reduce to low (65°C), cover, cook 25-30 mins.
  6. Stir occasionally.
  7. Visual cue: grains split, creamy consistency.
  8. Serve hot with ghee.
